Maintenance Services

The longer the period of use and the operating time, the greater is the deterioration of medical equipment performance. To maintain constant therapy effects, periodic preventive maintenance and inspections are indispensable to keep the quality and performance as high as they were when the equipment was brand new.

In 1979, IMI challenged the prevailing notion that "repairs are made after machines break down" and became the first Japanese company to start up a maintenance service business in the therapeutic instrument field. IMI thus set out to build a new common sense that 'performance is maintained and occurrence of troubles is prevented by periodic preventive maintenance and overhaul, which ensure patient safety."

IMI supports hospitals' maintenance and management systems through speedy maintenance services that are founded on precision controls by IMI's full-time service engineers.

Medical equipment can be backed only by full-time engineers who have abundant professional knowledge, skills, capabilities and experience. That is IMI's belief. This is why IMI has more service engineers than the size of its sales staff. These engineers are positioned at customer service centers all across Japan.

In order to provide services that are precisely focused on the realities of individual customers, the engineers utilize the Field Support System that permits verification of customers' maintenance history at any time, and execute maintenance and inspection, based on the safety control history such as repair, upgrading, overhaul. etc.

In addition, all full-time service engineers have received specialized training in maintenance, and use calibrators and various manuals that are used by makers all over the world to provide thorough precision control assurance, which spans from receiving and shipping inspections to periodic inspections and calibrations at hospitals. They ensure that equipment meets the same quality control standards that were applied when it was manufactured.

IMI has developed five basic courses and options that can be added to meet individual hospitals' needs. The basic courses range from the "Full Maintenance Plus Course," which includes periodic maintenance, overhauls and consumables and is exempt of additional charges, to the "CE Support Course," in which hospital CEs and MEs perform maintenance with IMI providing technical support.

IMI offers an extensive service menu and lets customers pick one of the basic courses that are safe, economical and adapt to the maintenance system and equipment usage at individual medical institutions. Customers can then combine the basic course of their choice freely with options.
